William F. Steffen Jr., 70, of 1022 S. 19th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday after a short illness. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. N. W. Kock will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Steffen was born June 12, 1897, at Manitowoc, son of the late William and Anna Winkie Steffen Sr. He was a carpenter-contractor and a member of the Carpenters Local No. 849. He married Sophie Duebner in 1917. She died Feb. 11, 1924. June 6, 1925, he married Laura Dehne.

She survives with four daughters, Mrs. Frank F. (Dorothy) Bonk of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, Mrs. S. L. (Bernice) Koch of Silver Springs, Md., Mrs. Lawrence (Elaine) Naibert of Manitowoc and Mrs. Clarence (Delores) Papendick of Grayling, Michq.; two sons, Gerald of Neenah and Lloyd, at home; a sister, Mrs. Alma LaRoche and a brother, Reinhardt of Manitowoc; 18 grandchildren and three great grand-children. A brother preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
