South 19th street, retired ship carpenter died Saturday afternoon at the Holy
Family Hospital following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at
2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pfeffer funeral home, the Rev. Paul Blaufuss officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Steffen was born in Germany in 1868
and came to this county when a boy. He was employed as a ship carpenter at the
Manitowoc Ship Building company for 45 years, retiring six years ago. Fifty-six
years ago he married Miss Anna Wienke. She died 10 years ago. Survivors are a
daughter, Mrs. Emil Dehne of this city; two sons, William Jr. and Reinhardt of
this city; sister, Mrs. Louise Dueno of this city; 2 grand-children and 18
great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home until the hour
of services.
