Of course I'm not positive this Omar Lloyd is the same person as Omar Henry Lloyd. He would have been 69 years old in 1919, somewhat beyond normal working age even in 1919. And he had never been listed in any prior Freeport City Directory. Plus, his listing in the Illinois Deaths And Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947 shows his occupation as "land agent," which is somewhat different from being a clerk.
Proof can be hard to find. No city directory shows the date of birth of any person listed, and beyond that the 1914 city directory listed his nephew Omar Huber Lloyd as Homer Lloyd. The only reason I knew he was Omar Huber Lloyd was that he was married to Cecelia Schryer and she is listed with him in the 1914 directory (as Cecelia). Their marriage, with his name as Omar Huber Lloyd, is listed in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index. I keep thinking that the directory people finally figured out when they were publishing the 1919 directory that Homer Lloyd was the wrong name and Omar Lloyd was the right name, but they didn't delete the wrong name and then couldn't decide which one was correct.
OMAR H. LLOYD
Omar was the son of Benijah and Arrelda (Willits) Lloyd. And the grandson of Benijah and Elizabeth (Dunn) Lloyd and Dr. Mark and Harriet Willits.
Omar's siblings were: Arthur Lloyd, Ella Lloyd, Nettie Lloyd, Charles M. Lloyd, William Lloyd, George W. Lloyd, Maurice E. Lloyd, Ida Lloyd and Thomas Lloyd. *NOTE Omar's brother William also had a son named Omar H. Lloyd.
Omar is buried in a family plot with his parents, some of his siblings and other family members.
