Maurice L "Morris" Lloyd passed away on November 12, 1930, at his home in Keithsburg, Illinois, following a lengthy illness. He was born near Keithburg, Illinois, on November 5, 1866, the son of Arrelda Jane (Willits) and Benijah Lloyd. He had nine siblings. He is the grandson of Elizabeth (Dunn) and Benijah Lloyd; and Harriet and Dr. Mark Willits.
In about 1900, he went to Minneapolis, MN, where he was a railroad employee and later official. Afterwards he connected with the National Surety Company of New York City. After his resignation and retirement he returned to Keithsburg, IL, to make his home and has lived in Keithsburg, IL, since that time.
Several times he was supervisor from Keithsburg and has served in many civic offices. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine, and the IOOF.
Morris married Nellie A. Miller on December 20, 1894, in Mercer County, IL. They became the parents of two daughters, Waverly (Lloyd) Strom-Buckingham and Lucille Lloyd. Lucille passed away in 1916. Following their divorce, he then married Cathryn Estelle "Stella" (Buchholtz) in 1918.
He is survived by his wife, Cathryn Estelle "Stella" (Buchholtz); and four children, three daughters, Waverly (Lloyd) Strom-Buckingham of St. Paul, MN; Lorraine and Gloria Lloyd of Keithsburg, IL; and one son, Maurice Eugene Lloyd of Keithsburg, IL; two sisters, Ida Maude Fleming and Nettie A Range, both of Keithsburg, IL; and three brothers, William Walter Lloyd of Milwaukee, WI; George W Lloyd of Santa Barbara, CA; and Charles M Lloyd of Keithsburg, IL.
