Beverly II was born in Brooklyn, Halifax, VA. He married Nancy Easley on October 8, 1835, purchased the family home "Brooklyn" and added a large addition. He and Joshua Hightower built and operated the Brooklyn Tobacco Factory, and he was also a merchant for the Brooklyn Store and Post Office. In 1844, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the 69th Regiment, 11th Brigade, Virginia Militia. He also served as an elder of the Mercy Seat Presbyterian Church. He, along with his wife, Nancy, is buried in the Barksdale's family cemetery located behind their home, "Brooklyn".Parents:Beverly Barksdale I
