Bettie's name is found spelled Betty in census records and on her tombstone, but spelled with "ie" on family records.
Bettie was the daughter of Orpha B. (Myers) and Benjamin D. Ellett. She had one half sister by her father's 1st marriage; Mary Jack Ellett, and eight siblings from her parents union; Frank A., Minnie E., Nellie, William Benjamin, Harry Brook, Edwin Myers, Fredrick D., and Thomas A. Ellett.
In the 1900 census Bettie's mother Orpha is listed as a widow, head of the household. Living in the home with her are five of her grown children; William, Harry, Bettie, Fred, Minnie & Minnie's 13 yr old daughter Bessie. Harry is listed as divorced and Minnie's husband worked on the Rail Road and must have traveled out of town. William, Betty and Fred are all listed as single.
Their mother Orpha passed away in 1909. In the 1910 census Bettie is still living in the Family Home with her single brother's William and Fred. In 1920 and 1930 the three siblings are joined by their widowed brother Edwin and niece Virginia.
Bettie never married and lived out her whole life in the same house, always with extended family near by. She died in 1949, at the age of 90, in the same house in which she was born.
