Obituary – (note hard to read)

Corinth, Feb. 23. – The death of Alonzo Herridon, for many years a resident of Corinth, occurred at his home on Hamilton avenue, yesterday morning at about 11:45 o’clock. He had suffered with bright’s disease for a long time, and for a few weeks past had been confined to his bed.

He was born I Ohio, February 12, 1854, but came east when a young man and located in Buffalo where he was engaged in boating on the Erie canal. He afterwards went to New York where he continued the same business, and still later he came to this place where he was in business as a millwright. Subsequently he formed a co-partnership with C. L, Grippen, now sheriff of Saratoga county, and conducted business under the firm name of Herridon and Grippen, running a dry goods and shoe store. He was also engaged with others in conducting the Corinth Ice Company. After the dissolution of the firm or Herridon and Grippen, Mr. Herridon conducted the business of the Corinth Ice Company, having purchased the interests of his partners. Later he disposed of the ice business and for several years conducted what is known as the Adirondack Poultry Farm, making a specialty of Rhode Island Reds on which he received many awards at the state fairs. He was for many years a prominent Republican and had held office at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and by one son, Dr. Hiram Herridon of Staatsburg, and two step-children, Lillian and Percy Hawkins, and by one sister Mrs. Frank VanAmburg of Schenectady, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held from his late residence on Tuesday, at 2 o’clock. Burial will be made in Rural cemetery.
