Laura Edlund, 100, of Kelliher died Monday, July 7, 1997, at Kelliher Care Center.

She was born Nov. 18, 1896, at Minneapolis, to Bengt and Inga Anderson. She came to Shotley in 1908. In 1921 she married Hjalmer Edlund at Shotley. They moved to Kelliher in 1928. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, WELCA in the Lutheran Church in Kelliher, Kelliher Garden Club and the Library Club.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Hazel) Edlund of Minneapolis and Earl (Hazel) Edlund of Maple Lake; a daughter, Jean (Jim) Magnuson of Columbia Heights; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son, Duane, and his wife, Helen; three sisters; two brothers; and a granddaughter.

He is listed as a brother-in-law and farm laborer.

1920 Census: Ben Anderson (55) born about 1865 in Sweden and immigrated 1884, was farming in Shotley, Beltrami, Minnesota. He was married to Inga Anderson (60) born about 1860 in Sweden and immigrated 1884. Children: Laura (23), William (18), and Walter (14). They had three boarders: Olaf Anderson (58) born about 1862 in Sweden and immigrated 1902, whose occupation was farm laborer; Anton Olson (40) born about 1880 in Sweden and immigrated 1903, whose occupation was farm laborer; and Hjalmar Edlund (27) born about 1893 in Iowa, whose occupation was sawmill millwright.

1930 Census: Hjalmar Edlund (37) born about 1893 in Iowa, was living on third street in Kelliher, Beltrami, Minnesota. Occupation - proprietor of telephone Office. He was married to Laura Edlund (33) born about 1897 in Minnesota. Children: Richard A (6), Earl A (4), Duane H (2), and Jean M (7 months).

1940 Census: Hjalmar Edlund (45) born about 1895 in Iowa, was living in Kelliher, Beltrami, Minnesota. Occupation - proprietor of a hotel. He was married to Laura Edlund (43) born about 1897 in Minnesota. Occupation - proprietor of a hotel. Children: Richard (16), Earl (14), Duane (12), and Jean (10). They had 4 boarders: Vernon Davidson (20), Ed Knelman (48), Phyllis Urseth (19), and Alzada Olson (20).
