Max Adam Amos, 88, of Cape Girardeau was called to his heavenly home Sunday, October 30, 2016.

He was born June 10, 1928, in Delta, son of Robert N. and Myrtle Burns Amos. He and Mary Emma Scheible were married on December 16, 1951. Mary passed away on July 23, 1995. He then married Doris Baker on June 5, 1998. Doris passed away on December 29, 2010.

Max was a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1956. He worked 10 years on the river as a deck hand. Max came home to work in construction for Roy Davault and Bob Morton. The river called him back and Max went back to work as an Engineer for Duncan Hines, Inc. He worked for Duncan Hines for 10 years. He worked for Kenny Seabaugh Construction until retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved to garden, dance and play cards. Max loved his family, especially his two grandchildren and his three great granddaughters. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Susann Amos and a son, John (Renee) Amos of Jackson; a granddaughter, Michelle (Randy) Dees of Jackson; a grandson, Chris
Amos of Cape Girardeau; three great granddaughters, Jolee, Ellie, and Kinley Dees; and a sister, Mary Dannenmueller of Chaffee

Also surviving are many loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first and second wife; four brothers, Jack, Bob, James, and Nelson Amos; and three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Anna Mae Hahs, and Lois Eichhorn.

Friends may call Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 4-8 pm in Chapel B at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home, with the Brother Don Estes officiating.

Interment will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery near Old Appleton, with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to your Church or Charity of Choice.
