Broadus W. "Bub" McSwain, 91, of Inman, SC, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011, at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.

Mr. McSwain was born May 6, 1920, in Spartanburg County and was the son of the late Ed William McSwain (1888-1979) and Dora (Calvert) McSwain (1900-1984). He was a member of Sandy Springs First Baptist Church.

He was a lifelong farmer and operated a store in his early days. Bub was best known as a generous and caring man who provided fruits and vegetables for many in the community.

He was loved by his family and his many friends for his quiet and compassionate ways.

He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Margaret Lucille (Painter) McSwain; daughter, Barbara Yelton and husband Donald of Inman; son, Donald McSwain and wife Linda of Griffin, GA; three grandchildren, Donette Stewart, Rita Lawter and Jason McSwain and wife Jamie; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Zachary Stewart, Holly and Dillon Lawter, Selvie and Mallory McSwain; and his siblings, Hoyt McSwain, Bonnie Owens, Corrine Webb, Will McSwain, Nathan McSwain, and Judy Baker.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at 12:00 Noon at Sandy Springs First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Phil Bailey and Rev. John Lynch.

The family received friends in the sanctuary one hour before the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg, SC.
