Ralph Edward ''Eddie'' Mathias Sr., 54, of the 100 block of Raleigh Drive, a retired tire maintenance man, died March 21, 1994, in his home.

Mr. Mathias was born in Portsmouth. He was retired from Suffolk Tire Company after 12 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lyndia Whitley Mathias; one daughter, Christine M. Turner of Suffolk; three sons, Ralph Edward Mathias Jr. of Franklin, Patrick Allen Mathias and Bryan Joseph Turner, both of Suffolk; four sisters, Leneive M. Feldner and Edith M. Lewis, both of Portsmouth, Jewell E. Ellis and Maryann M. Rose, both of Suffolk; and two brothers, Maylon E. Mathias of Chesapeake and Marshall L. Mathias of Norfolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Adolphus Redd and the Rev. Howard Vinson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery
