Anna Serena Adeline Brand, daughter of Gerhard and Anna Kolves, was born near Bath, Mason County, Illinois on March 13, 1870 and died on February 8, 1934 at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 25 days.
She was baptized in St. John's Lutheran church near Bath, Ill., and on October 29, 1882 she was confirmed in the same church.
On February 1, 1894 she was united in marrage to Herman Frederick Brand by Rev. Gottlieb Trant, Jr., of St. Johns Lutheran church.
She lived in the neighborhood of Bath untill March, 1904, when she and her family moved to the farm in the Spring Green community where she lived untill her death.
The union was blessed with seven children. One of these, Katherine Anna Christina, proceeded her in death 26 years ago.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran church at Hendley, Nebr. since the time of its founding.
She is survived by her husband, Herman Frederick Brand, four sons, Harmon, Ernest, Carl, Frank and two daughters, Lizzie and Margaretha Brand of Beaver City.
There are also two brothers, August Kolves, of Kilbourne, Ill., and Edward Kolves of Bath, Ill., and five grandchildren together with many other relatives.
Funeral services were held from the Spring Green church, Sunday, February 11, conducted by Rev. J. C. Grimm of Cambridge. Burial was in the Spring Green cemetery. The pallbearers were Walter Cornell, John Breuning, Eugene Babcock, C. E. Babcock, Winfield Pettis and Ehme Wolzen.
