Elizabeth Foster d/o William Foster and 1/wife Mandana Townsend of New York City, NY., Wheeling, West Virginia (then Virginia) Hamilton Co., Ohio and Oquawka, Henderson Co., IL. She married 8 Dec.1859 Oquawka, IL. to Clement F. Briery of Gardiner, Kennebec Co., Maine son of Thomas Briery and 1/wife Nancy Towne. They had 3 children: Ida Eudor Briery, Ada Lucy Briery, and "Bill" William Joseph Briery. Children born in Oquawka, Illinois and Wausau, Marathon Co., Wisconsin.
Clement F. Briery soldier for Union from State of Illinois. Suffered head injury during war and possibly precipitated his leaving family in Wausau, WI., in 1878 and never returning to wife and children. Elizabeth obtained divorce and remarried to Edgar E. LaDu 28 Oct. 1883 Marathon Co., WI., becoming his 2nd wife. He was early settler of Mosinee, Marathon Co., WI. They later divorced 31 Aug., 1899 Wausau, WI., and Elizabeth LaDu moves to California living in Hammonton, Yuba Co., CA. (near Beal AFB) and Sutter, Sutter Co., CA. with son William James Briery. In California she applied as widow of Clement F. Briery Civil War Pension.
