Hattie M. Foster d/o William Foster and Elizabeth Ellen
Lathrop of Oquawka, Henderson Co., IL. and Ionia, Ionia Co., MI. On marriage certificate 20 Feb. 1886 Ionia, MI., to first husband James R. Elliott she said she was born in Sagetown, Henderson Co., IL. After death of James R. Elliott from tuberculosis she married Frederick Andrew Gray 26 Sep. 1893 Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI.
No children from either union. She and Fred Gray adopted Julia Ellen Watts d/o William E. Watts called Richard Watts half brother of Hattie M. (Foster) Elliott, Gray.
"Richard" Watts had heart problems and died in his 20's.
Julia was raised by the Grays but no confirmation of official adoption.
My mother had fond memories of Aunt Hattie and Uncle Fred.
