Henry Frederick Bruner was born 05 Jul 1911 in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas; one of six children born to George Henry and Regina (Bader) Bruner.

Henry was united in marriage in 1934 to Violette "Vi" Opal Latimer; daughter of James Louis and Gertrude Alice (Miller) Latimer.

Henry and Vi were the parents of four children:

1. Henry (Hank) Frederick Jr.
2. David Michael
3. George Thomas
4. Pamela (Pam) Ann

Henry and Vi also raised their nephew: James "Jim" V. Gilpin.

Henry passed away 09 Feb 2010 in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas at 98 years. He was laid to rest with his wife Vi at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Wyandotte, Kansas.

HENRY F. BRUNER, SR.

Henry F. Bruner, Sr. of Kansas City, Kansas, entered into God's kingdom January 9, 2010, at his home after a brief illness. He was born July 5, 1911, to George and Regina Bruner of Kansas City, Kansas and was a life long resident. He was preceded in death by his 4-siblings.

He was married to Violette O. (Latimer) Bruner for 49 years, and she went before him in 1983. They were a loving and devoted couple. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mr. Frances M. (Latimer) Borserine.

Henry was a devoted father to, and is survived by his children, Henry F. (Angel) Bruner, Jr., Clovis, N.M., David M. (Nela) Bruner, KCK, George T. (Cheryl) Bruner, Aurora, Co., James V. (Julie) Gilpin, Overland Park, Ks., and Pamela A. (William) Durbin, St. Peters, Mo.

He continued to share his guidance and wisdom with his surviving 6 grandchildren, Patricia (Jimmy) Davis, Yvonne Bruner, David M. (Kathy) Bruner, Jr., Kimberly Bruner, Denise (Richard) McBain and Rebecca (Frank) Messmer. He was involved in the lives of his 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, loving them and rejoicing in their being unconditionally. He was a family patriarch and continued to keep in touch with his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the United States until his death.

Henry graduated from Wyandotte High School, KCK, in 1931, and in 1945 received a B.A. in Chemistry from UMKC. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard from 1933-1937.

He began a long and distinguished career with the KCK Board of Public Utilities in 1934, retiring as the Superintendent of Water Processing in 1971. Several innovative contributions he made in his scientific field of expertise continue to stand today.

Services will be held Saturday February 13, 2010 at Victory Hills Baptist Church, where he had served as both a deacon and trustee at various times. Visitation will begin at 10 to 11:30 a.m. with services immediately following in the sanctuary. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 38th and State, KCK following the services. His family invites you to come and share in the joy of his life.

The family is being services by Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel of DeSoto, Ks. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to Victory Hills Baptist Church, 2010 N. 66th Terrace, KCK or to the Dream Factory in memory of his great-granddaughter, Faith Bruner.
