Services Held Tuesday For Mrs. Bessie Eyerly
Mrs. Bessie Eyerly, a resident of Coggon, for the past several years, passed away September 13, 1963 at University hospital in Iowa City from injuries she suffered last Tuesday, September 10. she was riding in a car driven by her son, Dean Bailey of Walker when it collided with one driven by Richard Hopkins, Jr. of near Lisbon at the intersection of highway 150 and County Road 71, south of Marion. Hopkins was charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
Bessie Fay Eyerly was born December 22, 1908, at Shellsburg, Iowa. Surviving are four sons; Lee William Bailey of Central City, Richard Edward Bailey of Marion, Herbert Dean Bailey of Walker and Terry Lee Eyerly of Coggon; one daughter Barbara Jean Eyerly of Coggon; three sisters; Mrs. Pearl Rogers of Center Point, Mrs. John (Martha) Christensen of Coggon and Mrs. Pauline Darringer of Cedar Rapids and a brother, Herbert Dale Keyes of Washington, Illinois. Also she is survived by an aunt, a sister-in-law, 6 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral srvices were held at the Christian church in Coggon, Tuesday at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. William F. Dreyer of Central City, in charge.
Interment was in Mt. Clark cemetery at Central City. The following served as pallbearers: Ralph Darringer, Delmind Norris, Raymond, James and John Christensen, Jr. and Lee Passmore.
Passmore funeral home had charge of arrangements.
