It is not clear Mary Jane Boyer and Clark Dains who died in the Civil War were married. We understand Mary Jane married John Clapshaw in 1863 two years before Clark Dains died. When she applied for a widow's pension she could not provide evidence of marriage although she certified they might be records to that effect in Jefferson County, WI. Pension denied.
Her daughter Hulda married Walter Henry Boyer. Mary Jane then married John Clapshaw. Hulda Dains and Walter Henry Boyer are probably cousins but we still do not know the ancestry of Walter Henry Boyer's father.
