Pauline (Polly) Sexton Acres, 83, of Helenwood, passed away February 1, 2012, at home surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burchfield (Bill) and Lillle Mae Sexton; husband, Norman C. Acres; brothers: Doyle, Venice (Benny), and Neal Sexton; and brother-in-law, Larry Levine.

She was a housewife, mother, accomplished seamstress, outstanding baby-sitter, and a loving caregiver. She was a mother who always had an extra seat at the table and the seamstress who could make a last minute flag, majorette or cheerleading uniform even if it required late nights or extra early mornings to complete the project. She delighted in her ‘little ones' and ‘kids' whether her own or those she cared for over 40-plus years. She never failed to have the right answer for the worried new mother or father, the best folk wisdom for childhood illness or a new gardener and always offered a shoulder to lean on to family and friends. She always said "God has always taken care of me since I was a little girl." Her faith persevered through the deaths of her mother, father, and husband as well as through her long battle with cancer. As a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntsville, she taught Sunday School, was a Vacation Bible School teacher, and active in the WMU, Although she was unable to attend regularly due to her caregiving of her father, husband, and due to her own failing health, she spent many hours in prayer and studying the scriptures.

She is survived by her children: Authur Acres of Nashville, Paula Davidson and husband, Kenneth, of Oneida, Linda Lloyd and husband, Jim, of Memphis; and Tammie Burchfield and husband, Steve, of Helenwood; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, brother, Clendon (Joe) and wife, Brenda, of Huntsville; sister, Betty Levine of Ocala, Fla.; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted Feb. 4, at West-Murley Funeral Home Huntsville Chapel with Bro. Dale Smith officiating. Music was provided by Marshall Carson, Chrissy Davidson, and Kloee King. Interment followed at Carson Memorial Park.
