Funeral services for Mr. Warner Phillips, 99, of Clarkrange, were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Basil Phillips Jr., Rev. Billy Joe Hedgecough, and Rev. Ronnie Swallows officiating.
Burial was at the Phillips Family Cemetery in Clarkrange.
Mr Phillips died Friday, May 30 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Woody Freewill Baptist Church and a World War II Army Veteran. A graduate of Rickman Highschool, he was a farmer by occupation.
Born June 21, 1908, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Alvin and Lou Effie (Bilbrey) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Lou Hattie (Swallows) Phillips of Clarkrange; three sons, Vaden Phillips, Aden Phillips, and Barney Phillips, all of Clarkrange; three daughters, Betty Reagan, Brenda Davis, and Berilla Smith, all of Clarkrange; a sister, Delia Phillips, of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
