"The passing of Mr. J.D. Pyles Thursday came as a great shock to his many relatives and friends. He was 77 years of age and was well known throughout Pulaski county, having served two terms as a magistrate. He is survived by two sons, Volantus and Ezra Pyles, and five daughters, Mrs. Nellie Johnson, Mrs. Zella Girkey, Mrs. Vona Weddle, Mrs. Vida Johnson and Miss Alta Pyles of Nancy. Several grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted Friday. Interment was in the Tarter cemetery at Naomi. The bereaved ones have our deepest sympathy."

Mr. Pyles was 77 years old and is survived by his children, Mrs. Zella Girkey, Mrs. Nana Weddle, Mrs. Nellie Johnson, Mrs. Vida Johnson, and Mr. Ezra Pyles, all of Nancy; and Mr. V.K. Pyles of Piney Grove, and Miss Alta Pyles of this place. We extend sympathy to the bereaved in this sad and lonely hour."

Dudley's parents were Levi Pile/Pyles and Nancy Anna (McFarland) Pile/Pyles. His siblings were Pleasant Younger Pyles, Nancy Pile, Mary J. Pile, Rebecca Jane (Pyles) Baker , Harriet Pile, and George Washington Pyles.

Levi's parents are thought to have been John C. Pile and Nancy (Rhoades) Pile.

John C.'s parents were Conrad "Coonrod" Pile and Mary Catherine (Rich) Pile .

Children of Dudley and Dora (Tarter) Pyles were Vida (Pyles) Johnson, Vona (Pyles) Weddle, Volantus Pyles, Nellie (Pyles) Johnson, Zella (Pyles) Girkey, Ezra Pyles, James Hobert Pyles, Oza (Pyles) Dye, Alta (Pyles) Humble, and Charles "Charlie" Pyles.

James Dudley Pyles was also known as John Dudley Pyles.
