Mrs. George E. Bancroft, 72, of Rte. 2, Henke Road, life resident of Rock County, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday in Mercy Hospital following an illness of six weeks.
The former Estella N. Yale, daughter of Henry C. and Martha Stockman Yale, was born in Milton Township, Jan. 3, 1893. She was married to George E. Bancroft in Milton Township, Feb. 23, 1916. She has been a resident of Harmony Township since 1916.
Mrs. Bancroft was a member of Cargill Methodist Church, the rural group and senior citizens of the church.
Surviving are one son, Walter E., of Janesville; four daughters, Mrs. Texton Miller, Cary, N.C., [text lost on damaged microfilm] Mrs. Robert Barthel, Janesville; two brothers, Emmett Yale, Janesville, and Harry Yale, Milton Junction; a sister, Mrs. Hamilton Kriehn, Rte. 1, Janesville. Mr. Bancroft died Aug. 26, 1962; a son, Robert, in January 1923. Two brothers, two sisters and two grandsons also predeceased her.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Overton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.
