Busse, Phyllis J. Phyllis J. Busse, age 90, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the home of her daughter where she resided for the past several years. She was born on July 5, 1921, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Archie and Mabel (Skelton) Fehring. Phyllis graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1940. On October 19, 1949, she married Merl Busse at First German Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1998. Phyllis loved her job as a Librarian at the Manitowoc Public Library from where she retired. She was a member of First German Lutheran Church and Angel Association of the Manitowoc Heath Care Center. Phyllis enjoyed volunteering at Peter's Pantry and at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. Over the last few years she lived for attending the Kiel Community Center where she made many friends. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, knitting, reading and candle making. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn and Don Krupp, Kiel; two granddaughters: Andrea (Robert) Fetherston, Milwaukee; and Abbi (Bryan) Kuether, Kiel; one great- granddaughter: Madyson Kuether; one brother-in-law: George Gaestel, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law: Lucille Busse, California; Rose Cegielski, Manitowoc; and her special canine companion: Tucker. Phyllis is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Mildred Tuesberg, Althea Gaestel, Eilzabeth Hartlaub; and four brothers-in-law: Clifford Busse, Delmar Busse, Myron Cegielski and Chet Tuesberg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Rosenow, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
