Dean D. Church was born August 28, 1938 in Bemidji, Minnesota: the son of Fred and Stella (Marin) Church. He graduated from Bemidji High School with the class of 1956. Dean was united in marriage to Jan Berg on October 4, 1958 in Duluth, Minnesota. Together, they moved to Waterloo and he worked for Chamberlain's from January 1959 until December of 1963. From there, Dean worked at John Deere as a Machinist, retiring in December of 1993. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing and summers at the lake. Most of all, Dean loved spending time with his family and his "Happy Hours" with his friends.
Dean passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, with his family by his side, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from complications of surgery at the age of 72. He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers: Darrell, Lavern, Orris and Lee and a sister Margaret Huffman. Dean is survived by his wife Jan of Waterloo; a son Dean (Michelle) Church of New Hartford; 3 daughters: Debbie (Michael) Goldsmith, Jodi (Terry) Krieger of Waterloo and Lori (Scott) Munger of Lincoln, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren: Amber, Tiffany, Eric, Lindsey, Cory, Alex, Nick, Dylan, Emily and Zachary; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: DeWayne (Cathy) Church of Bloomington, Minnesota and Jerry Church of Oregon and a sister Donna (Floyd) Littler of Babbitt, Minnesota. Dean will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
