John (Johann) was the first-born of Joseph and Franciska (Kary) Senn at Speyer, Beresan, Russia. When Johann was 14, his parents, he and five younger siblings emigrated to the USA. There John farmed with his father, established a Homestead and married Marianna Schmidt on 06 November 1899 at the home of Francine Bart with Fr. Vincent Wherle officiating. They farmed the homestead and had 11 children: Joseph, Ferdinand, Maryeva, Leboures (Lee), Adam, Julia, Frances, John F., Vincent, Rudolf and Anton. On 05 November 1918 John succumbed to the Flu, leaving Marianna with 11 children and Marianna (Mary), who was born 8 months later. John was buried at St. Placidus Cemetery. Marianna later married Joseph Zent, a widower.

A bit of research regarding the words Speyer, Beresan, Russia in the bio above: First: there is a city of Speyer in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany.

It is quite possible that instead of being spelled Speyer, it might be Speier which is near Odessa which would be in Russia during the time when John was born; however, Speyer is also an alternative spelling. It is in Beresan District Odessa. Today, Odessa is in Ukraine.

Moving on to the word Beresan , it is a Ukrainian river flowing into the Berezan Estuary of the Black Sea. It also near Odessa.
