MARION - Paul Furman Altman, 69, a retired Marion Police Department officer, died Saturday in a Florence hospital.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today in Marion Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Richardson Funeral Home, will be in Devotion Gardens.

Mr. Altman was born in Marion County, a son of Walter Monroe Altman and Ora Dell Edwards Altman. He was a member of Marion Baptist Church and its Judge Lide Sunday school class.

Surviving are his wife, Cora Mae Martin Altman; two sons, Derrell Paul Altman of Florence and Eddie Joseph Altman of Marion; a brother, Walter Franklin Altman of Centenary; four sisters, Verna Mae Drew of Florence, Katherine Edwards of Gresham, and Alpha Altman and Katie Baxley, both of Marion; and 4 grandchildren.
