Nyla grew up in Madison, graduated from Madison High School, and then from General Beadle Teachers College in 1959. She taught junior high English at Redfield, SD before her marraige. She married James Cavigielli at the United Methodist Church in Madison on June 17, 1960. They farmed northwest of Howard.
Nyla was active in the Beach United Methodist Church, teaching Discipleship classes, chairing the annual chicken supper, and was a Lay Leader and certified Lay Speaker.
Nyla and Jim had one daughter and two sons, all living.
Nyla died in her home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Beach United Methodist Church. Willoughby Funeral Home of Howard was in charge of arrangements.
