Russell was a past state governor of the Toastmasters Club, and at the time of his death was the exalted ruler of the Yankton Elks Lodge.
Russell and Monica had two daughters, both still living.
He died suddenly in his home in Yankton. Funeral services were held in the Ray Funeral Chapel.
