Julio Vitali, 79, of Chisholm, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing, after battling years of cancer.

He was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Chisholm to Joseph and Anna (Gallinatti) Vitali. He attended Chisholm Schools. On July 26, 1952, he married Marilyn Pogorelc. He worked for the Snyder Mining Co., and retired from Eveleth Taconite. He enjoyed life, being with all of his family, hunting at the Poacher's Shack, golfing, fishing, playing his accordion and making people laugh. He will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Gary (Lucy); daughters: Mary (Mark) Morris, Sharon Filipovich, Lauri (Steven) Konesky; brother, Rudy (Ann); sisters: Zelinda Hendrickson, Josephine Carpenter, Anita (Frank) Vovk ; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Catherine Chiodi, Minnie Vercellino, Righetta Pagliacetti, Mary Bachnik, Tillie Maturi and Elivira Hooper; a brother, Alex; and a sister and brother in infancy.

Burial in the Chisholm Cemetery.
