Born to Roy Delbert Smith and Garnet C. (Harris) Smith, Bobby married Betty Mahoney in March of 1954. They later divorced.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah Fasano, Kathy (Mike) McKee and Diana (Troy) Gall; and one daughter-in-law, Tina Smith; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene (Doris) Smith; longtime companion, Pat Krause; and his loving dog, Sam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tim; three sisters; and four brothers.

Bobby served four years in the U.S.A.F., with one year in Korea during the conflict.

He was employed for 26 years at Broderick and Bascom Rope Co. in Bartonville until it closed, then 16 years at Oak Grove School in Bartonville. He retired in 1998.

An outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. He was a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan, and rooted for the Bulls, Illini and Bradley also. Known as the "Tomato Man," he raised 100 plants every year and had many customers who claimed they were the best.
