My Grandfather, Joseph Newton Howard was the s/o Joseph (Joe) Wilkerson and Frances Howard, Grandson of Henry Howard b.1810 and Elizabeth "Betsy" Cottle. He married Martha Caroline Debord on March 28, 1886 by Issac Howard. They had 8 children: Orabelle,Laura Jane, William Lester, Mauda Alice,Jasper Newton, Columbus Dewey, Sylvester Washington and Mary Ellen who died at birth.

He is buried in Newt Howard Cemetery, behind the grocery store he owned, in Magoffin County, KY., located on the hill above the store on Lick Creek Road. All that's left of the store is a pile of rocks since its demolition.
