Thomas Landmon "Lant" Adams was born on 28 Dec 1883 in Star, Texas to James Marion Adams and Samantha Savana (Johnson) Adams. At the time of his birth, Star was located in Hamilton County. In 1887 the Texas state legislature formed Mills County from areas of Brown, Comanche, Hamilton, and Lampasas counties. Star, Texas officially became Star, Mills County, Texas in 1887.

Lant Adams married on 24 Dec 1908 in Center City, Mills County, Texas to Tennessee "Tennie" Slaughter. Center City, Texas is now a ghost town. It was settled c1870 first as "Hughes Store", after the general store owner W. C. Hughes, and became Center City around the time that Mills County was organized. Lant and Tennie Adams had four children: Vince "Dee" Adams; Gladys Izora "Doe" Adams; Bonnie Ovella Adams; and T.L. Jr. The family's residence was in Star, Texas.

Lant worked young as a farmer with his father and, later, as a cotton ginner in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. The death certificate for him details that Lant died due to injuries from trauma and shock after falling from a window. Lant was in his room at the Ringold Hotel in Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas when around 11pm on 25 June 1959, the incident occurred. He was taken to the Hospital in McAllen, where he died. The death certificate additionally indicates (most likely information provided by his son, who was with him): "stated to have fallen from window to pavement". The informant on the death certificate was his son, T.L. Adams (Jr).

Lant Adams died on 27 June 1959 in the McAllen Municipal Hospital in McAllen, Texas. He is buried along side his wife, in the Adams plot at Hurst Ranch Cemetery, Hamilton County, Texas. He died at the age of 75 years.
