Mr. Herbert Orth, 68, of 1831 Maple Street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, February 5, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.


Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and 11:30 am at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Daniel Felton with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.


Mr. Orth was born June 18, 1917 at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, son of the late Edward and Minnie Lindenau Orth. Mr. Orth was with the Manitowoc Fire Department Rescue Squad from March 16, 1952 until his retirement as a Lieutenant on March 7, 1977. He married the former Grace R. Panosh on August 31, 1940 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Mr. Orth was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and the church's Athletic Association.


Survivors include his wife, Grace; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Nancy Orth, Robert and Mary Orth, Richard and Mary Orth and Jan and Nancy Orth, all of Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Michael Thor of Appleton and Nancy and Wayne Doney of Milwaukee; his mother-in-law, Anna Panosh of Manitowoc; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Walter Orth of Brillion, George and Albena Orth of Manitowoc, Ralph and Audrey Orth of New Holstein, Clifford and Rita Orth of Cato, Francis and Betty Orth of Manitowoc and John and Carolyn Orth of Manitowoc; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marie Aarhus of Alexandria, Virginia, Rita and Clarence Seidl of rural Manitowoc and Marion and Paul Skarvan of Manitowoc; 20 grandchildren and other relatives and friends survived. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary; five infant brothers and sisters; four adult brothers, Norman, Wilbur, Conrad and Edwin Orth and two grandchildren.


Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 pm to 9 pm Friday afternoon. A prayer service will be held at 7 pm Friday evening led by Deacon Bill Klein.
