Obituary:

Services Slated for John Anker, 69

Funeral services are to be held today (Thursday) at the Gagetown Nazarene Church at 1:30 p.m. for John A. Anker, 69, Cass City. Mr. Anker died Sunday at Veterans' Hospital, Saginaw, after a two-week illness.

Born Sept. 2, 1892, in Elmwood Township, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anker. A farmer, he was a member of the Nazarene Church.

He married the former Irma Schantz, Nov. 16, 1925.

Surviving besides his wife, are: five daughters, Mrs. William Braddock, Pacoima, Calif., Mrs. Sam Kuch, Bad Axe, Miss Mary Eilen Anker, Saginaw, and Misses Geraldine and Catherine Anker, both at home, and five sons, Norris, Lake Orion, Stanley, Saginaw, Donald, at home, S/Sgt Howard, Sawyer Air Force Base, Gwinn, Mich., and Pvt. Lyle, Fort Knox, Ky.

Also surviving are two brothers, William and Nelson, both of rural Cass City; three sisters, Mrs. Chester Lash, Detroit, Mrs. Arthur Loomis, Cass City, and Mrs. Howard Evans, Lake Orion, and 12 grandchildren.

Rev. Russell J. Stanley will officiate at the services. Funeral arrangements are by Hunter Funeral Home, Gagetown, and interment will be in Elkland Cemetery.
