LAURA M. BRAUNEL

Laura M. Braunel, 62, formerly of 811 S. 16th Street, Manitowoc, who died Sunday
evening, September 6, 1987 at North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc, will be 11 am
Thursday at First Lutheran Chapel. Rev. Bruce W. Hanstedt will officiate with
burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Laura was born December 16, 1924 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edwin W. and
Marie Lillian Chakoski Braunel. She grew up and was educated in Manitowoc, being
a 1942 graduate of Lincoln High School. Laura attended Lawrence University at
Appleton from 1942 to 1944, Milwaukee Downer college from 1944 to 1946, receiving
her B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy. She was a Registered Occupational Therapist
since 1947. Laura was employed at Winter VA Hospital in Topeka, Kansas from 1947 to
1948, Chicago Metropolitan Unit of the Illinois Association for the Crippled from
1948 to 1963. Laura was then employed with the State of Wisconsin, Division of
Health in the Chronic Disease and Aging Patient Care Practice from 1963 to 1980,
then at Michigan Shores, Manitowoc from 1981 until her retirement in February of
1987. Laura was a member of First Lutheran Church and American Occupational Therapy
Association.
Survivors include three sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean Jackson of Green Lake,
Wisconsin, Irene and Richard Greenwalt of Moraga, California and Dorothy Flynn of
Scandia, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dottie Braunel of Manitowoc; nieces and
nephews include, Karin (Mrs. Charles) Tuschl of Whitelaw, Phyllis (Mrs. Douglas)
Boettcher of DePere, Janelle (Mrs. Steven) VanRensselaer of Denver, Colorado and
Richard Greenwalt Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by
a brother, Paul H. Braunel.
Friends may call at Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from
7 pm to 9 pm this Wednesday and Thursday at First Lutheran Chapel from 10 am until the
hour of service. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church East Access Fund or
American Cancer Society.
