Max Carl Granzow, 81, of 1131 N. 18th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday
evening at University Hospital, Madison, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Phipps Memorial Chapel
of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Gervase Zanottie
will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Granzow was born Aug. 28, 1887, in Germany, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Karl Granzow. The family migrated to the United States and
located at Manitowoc while Max was a young boy. He was employed as a
machinist for Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. until his retirement in
1952.
Mr. Granzow married Elizabeth Schwantz and Mayme Clayton and they
preceded him in death. He married Mrs. Gertrude Hubbard in 1947 and
she died in 1966.
He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 706 and the Machinist Local 516.
Mr. Granzow was a parking lot attendant at the Manitowoc County Fair
for 10 years and had a statewide reputation for his bass fishing
ability at Fish Creek, where he also guided summer fishermen.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Florine) Kaminski
of Manitowoc, Mrs. Raymond ( Vivian) Lubitz of LaPuente, Calif.,
and Mrs. Frank (Beulah) Durachta of Chicago; two sons, Ralph of
Redwood City, Calif., and Marx of Chicago; four step-daughters,
Mrs. Elmer Beilfuss of Cecil, Mrs. Joseph VanZon of Manitowoc,
Mrs. Ray Peterson of Germantown and Mrs. Emmet Rickabey of Green
Bay; five step-sons, Elmer Hubbard of Suring, Ralph Hubbard of Green
Bay, Raleigh Hubbard of Milwaukee, Forrest Hubbard of Lansing, Ill.,
and Roy Hubbard of Gillette; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Dent of Manitowoc
and Mrs. Emma Bromwell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, Otto
and Fred of Manitowoc; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after
4 p.m. Sunday until noon Monday and then at the chapel. Eagle members
will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
