INJURIES ARE FATAL TO MRS. ERNST GROTH
16' Fall Caused When Porch Railing Breaks Is Fatal Last Night
Internal and other injuries which she received in a sixteen foot fall to the
ground when the railing of a second story porch at her home broke as she was
leaning over it on Tuesday evening, last night at 7:45 oclock proved fatal to
Mrs. Ernst Groth, 53.
Death occurred at the Holy Family hospital and followed an internal hemorrhage
early last evening. Several periods of unconsciousness followed the accident
which occurred at the home at 112 Washington street, her condition rapidly
becoming worse yesterday. In addition to the internal injuries suffered by her,
Mrs. Groth received several fractured ribs and several bruises.
Lifelong County Resident, born in the town of Newton on July 24, 1876, Mrs.
Groth, nee Minnie Bruins, moved to Manitowoc about 27 or 28 years ago and
resided here continuously since that time.
Her entire lifetime was lived in this city and county.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Groth is survived by her mother, Mrs. Marry Bruins,
city; two daughters, Julia at home, Mrs. Hilda Holdorff, this city; one son,
Erwin at home; a brother, Carl Bruins of Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Henry
Vollheim, West Allis, Mrs. Walter Kreie, Manitowoc and Mrs. Henry Waak of Newton
and four grandchildren.
Funeral Tomorrow Mrs. Groth was interested primarily in activities of her home
and church and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Evangelical
Lutheran church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 oclock from the home
of her sister, Mrs. Walter Kreie, 1115 Division street, and at 2 oclock from
the Evangelical Lutheran church with the Rev. Koenninger officiating.
Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
