Reuben J. Hecker, age 73, of 415 S. 30th Street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1991 at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, Dec. 27 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev.Delmar C. Brick and Rev. Jonathon Stern will officiate with burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery with the military graveside rites by the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post No. 659.
He was born Dec. 12, 1918 in Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Emil and Dorothea Pleuss Hecker. He resided in Manitowoc all his life and attended Manitowoc county schools. He was married to the former Jane Butler at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church on Oct. 9, 1943. Prior to his retirement in February of 1973 he was employed as a machinist at Manitowoc Engineering for 14 years. He was a member of the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Air Force from 1942 until 1946. He served overseas in India.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; two sons, Michael and Peter, both of Manitowoc; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Loretta Hecker, Lloyd and Vivian Hecker, Vernon and Luella Hecker, all of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call at the church on Friday noon until the time of services. There will be no Thursday evening visitation at the Pfeffer Funeral Home of Manitowoc who is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
