Mr. Edmund A. Johansen, age 85, formerly of 715 S. 32nd St., Manitowoc, died
Thursday morning, July 5, 2001 at Alterra Sterling House of Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001 at the Bethany
Evangelical Lutheran Church. the Rev. Robert Kujawski will officiate with burial
to follow at Evergreen Cemeery.
Edmund was born March 28, 1916 in Manitowoc, son of the late Herman and Minnie
Peters Johansen. He grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School
in 1934. On June 11, 1949 he was married to the former Mildred E. Rodewald at St.
John Evangelical Lutheran Church at Newtonburg, Edmund was a mail carrier in
Manitowoc for 41-1/2 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of Bethany Evangelical
Lutheran Church and was inducted into the Manitowoc Hall of Fame for Fast Pitch
Softball as a pitcher.
Survivors include his wife Mildred of Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law,
David and Susan Johansen of Hartland, Wis.; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet
and William Arndt of Neenah, Wis.; five grandchildren, Erik, Amy and Jennifer
Arndt, Brenda and Alan Johansen; one brother-in-law, Clarence Rodewald of
Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Schwalb of Kiel, Deloris Krancus of
Milwaukee, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded
in death by one son Donald, four brothers Harry, Ray, Elmer and George Johansen,
two sisters Edna Brey and Clara Kerscher.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church on
Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Memorials would be
appreciated for Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The Reinbold and Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the family.
