Herman F. Johansen, 80, of 1808 Wollmer St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning
at the home, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. L. H. Koeninger will officiate and burial
will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Johansen was born in Germany in 1872 and accompanied his parents to Michigan
in 1880. Later he moved to Manitowoc. In 1904 he married Miss Minnie Peters.
He was employed for more than 30 years as a foreman in the Construction Department
of the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., until his retirement 20 years ago.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Frederick Brey and Mrs. Arthur Kerscher
of Manitowoc; five sons, Harry of Bremerton, Wash., Raymond of Sheboygan Falls,
Elmer, George and Edward of Manitowoc; and ten grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc after Friday
noon. The casket will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
