JOHN M. KADOW – 90TH BIRTHDAY (photo)
90-YEARS OLD—John M. Kadow, 1111 Huron St., Manitowoc, marked his 90th
birthday anniversary Sunday when he was host to 300 friends and relatives
at St. Boniface School Hall. At left is one of his daughters, Mrs. Grace
Pekarske. Guests attended the party from Milwaukee, Chicago, Madison,
Wisconsin Rapids, and Stevens Point. Mr. Kadow was born Nov. 11, 1875,
in Manitowoc, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kadow. He married Mary Catherine
Mangin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mangin, Nov. 24, 1898. She died
in December, 1958, shortly after they had celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversary. The Kadows had six children, Frances, Leonora, Mrs. Grace
Pekarske, John, Mrs. Edythe Mackert and Thomas. John and Thomas are
deceased. There are seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren in the
family circle. Mr. Kadow, a well known Manitowoc business man, owned and
operated the Kadow Meat Market for 50 years. He sold it to former employes,
E. J. Herrmann and Stanley Kleman in 1950. Mr. Kadow’s other business
interest was real estate. He built the Mikadow Theater in 1916 and rebuilt
it in 1956 when it was destroyed by fire. One of the special guests at
Sunday’s celebration was Mrs. Lillian Fishbeck, Manitowoc, who was a
bridesmaid at the Kadow wedding in 1898.
