Mrs. Gertrude C. Kretsch, 90, of 910 S. 14th Street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday, February 27, at her grandson's residence, Jon Kretsch of Route 1, Whitelaw.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Alfred A. Schneider with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Kretsch, nee Gertrude Christine Mallman, was born July 18, 1894, at School Hill, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Peter and Anna Pitzner Mallman. She married Hubert V. Kretsch on November 20, 1923, at School Hill, Wisconsin. The couple came to Manitowoc to reside in 1938. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1973. Her husband preceded her in death September 8, 1963. Mr. Kretsch was a member of St. Boniface St. Ann Christian Mothers Altar Society, American Legion Post Number 88 Auxiliary, Eagles Aerie 706 Auxiliary and VFW Post 659 Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Kretsch, William and Betty Kretsch and Hubert (Butch) Kretsch, all of Manitowoc; a brother, William Mallman of Monterey Park, California; seven grandchildren, Jack, Jay, Heidi, Lee, Luann, Lanny and Larry and five great grandchildren, Heather, Chase, Janelle, Ricky and Jason. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Armella; a great grandson, Ramsey, seven brothers and nine sisters.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc from 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Thursday afternoon. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 o'clock p.m. by St. Ann Christian Mothers Altar Society, relatives and friends.
