Hubert V. Kretsch, 90, of 910 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday, Sept. 8, at Manitowoc Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore J. Hendricks will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in Evergeen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be accorded by veterans of Foreign Wars Post 659.
Mr. Kretsch was born Feb. 11, 1893, in the Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, son of the late Matthias and Catherine Schwalenburg Kretsch. He married Gertrude C. Mallman, Nov. 20, 1923, at School Hill, Wis. The couple resided in Manitowoc since 1938 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1973. Mr. Kretsch was a Veteran of World War I serving overseas in Europe with the United States Army and he obtained the rank of corporal. He was employed by Manitowoc Public Utilities for 32 years, retiring in 1958. Mr. Kretsch was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 706, Veterans of Foregin Wars Post 659 and American Legion Post 88.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude, three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Kretsch, William and Betty Kretsch and Hubert (Butch) Kretsch all of Manitowoc; a brother, Daniel Kretsch of Route 1, Valders; three sister, Mrs. Helen Bushman and Mrs. Catherine Maurer of Manitowoc and Mrs. Aroma Kiechaefer of Bremerton, Wash; seven grandchildren, Jack, Jay, Heidi, Lee, LuAnn, Lanny and Larry and five great grandchildren, Heather, Chase, Janelle, Ricky and Ramsey. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Armella, four brothers and four sister.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m Friday, where a prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
