Henry George Meier, Sr., Manitowoc County farmer, died Tuesday morning
at the farm home, following a short illness. He was 73.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rockwood
Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward Zell of Mishicot
officiating, and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Meier was born June 11, 1880, in Schultz, Russia. In 1910, he married
the former Ida Sessler, and the couple came to the United States, settling
at Sheboygan. Two years later they came to Manitowoc County and after a
year resided at Kingsbridge, then occupying a farm in the town of Kossuth.
He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Arnold Gauger of Denmark,
Mrs. LeRoy W. Fischer of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Jack Kampmann and Mrs. Wilfred
Payne of Plymouth, and Mrs. Robert Hibbard of New Holstein; four sons,
Henry Jr., of Sheboygan Falls, Edward and Arthur of Maribel, and John on
the home farm; and 17 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after
noon Thursday until 10 a.m. Friday when the casket will be moved to the
church.
