He was born on June 21, 1919, in Manitowoc, son of the late Henry and Ida (Sessler) Meier.
He attended Manitowoc area schools.
Mr. Meier served in the U. S. Army in World War II with the U. S. 3rd Armored Division in Europe.
On November 8, 1948, he married Mary DeLong in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
They resided in Plymouth after their marriage until 1950 when he went into partnership and co-operated the Behlow-Meier Shell Gas Station in Sheboygan Falls, until 1961. From 1961 until 1976 he operated and managed several gasoline service stations in Sheboygan until he went to work for the Kohler Company for seven years until his retirement in 1983. For the past few months he had been working part time for Quality Cleaners in Sheboygan.
Mr. Meier was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan VFW Post 9156 and the Sheboygan Falls American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, three daughters, Mrs. Duane (Ann Marie) Linn of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Gerald (Jeanne) Davies of Oostburg and Mrs. Steve (Janet) Nyenhuis of Sheboygan.; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; three brothers, John and Edward of Manitowoc and Arthur of California; and four sisters, Mrs. Emma Gauger of Denmark, Mrs. Ida Kampmann and Mrs. Clara Payne of Plymouth and Mrs. Regina Hibbard of Whitelaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 4, 1986 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, with the Rev. Randall Mueller, pastor, officiating. Entombment was at the Garden of Peace Mausoleum in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The Sheboygan Falls American Legion Post conducted memorial services at the funeral home at 7:00pm Monday and followed services at 7:30 by Sheboygan VFW Post 9156.
