George H. Thielen, 72, of 720 New York Avenue, Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, May 9, at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Keith Haag will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Thielen was born June 30, 1912, at Manitowoc, son of the late Peter and Mayme Koch Thielen. He resided in Manitowoc all his life. Mr. Thielen attended Manitowoc Public Schools and was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the Class of 1930. He married the former Marcella A. Bermke on November 26 (sic), 1935, at Manitowoc. Prior to his retirement in 1976, he had been employed at Manitowoc Engineering for 37 years. He was a member of Kiwanis Golden K club.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Joan of New London and Gary and Carol of Green Bay; a daughter and a son-in-law, Barbara and Randy Harvey of St. Paul, Minnesota; a brother and a sister-in-law, Lester and Myra Thielen of Marinette; eight grandchildren and other relatives and friends also survived. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandson, Timothy.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
