FRANCIS A. YINDRA
Atty. Yindra Dies Friday; Was Senator
Francis A. Yindra, attorney and former referee in bankruptcy, died unexpectedly
Friday morning at Holy Family Hospital.
Mr. Yindra, 66, resided at 1523 Kuhl St.
A native of Manitowoc, Mr. Yindra was born Jan. 17, 1906, son of the late Frank A.
and Mary K. Neidle Yindra. He was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1924 and
enrolled at Marquette University, where he obtained his degree in law in 1931.
He was admitted to the State Bar in 1932 and began the practice of law at Manitowoc,
being associated for a time with his father, also an attorney. Mr. Yindra became a
candidate for the State Assembly that year and was elected, representing the First
Manitowoc County District. He subsequently served two terms.
Served on School Board
Mr. Yindra then ran for the State Senate in 1939 and was elected, the only Democrat
at that time to hold that office outside of the City of Milwaukee. When he was
appointed referree in bankruptcy court for Eastern District of Wisconsin, he resigned
the senate seat. He served as referee until 1959.
Mr. Yindra's tenure on the Manitowoc Board of Education spanned 10 years. He was
elected to his first term in 1954 and served as president of the board from 1957 to
1962.
Funeral Monday
He was a member of the Manitowoc County Bar and State Bar associations, Knights of
Columbus Council No. 710, Elks Lodge No. 687, Manitowoc Men's Garden Club, the
Manitowoc Unit of Manitowoc County Fish and Game Protective Assn., Manitowoc Eagles
Aerie No. 706 and Western Bohemian Fraternal Assn. (ZCBJ).
Mr. Yindra is survived by his wife, four daughters, two sons, a sister and six grand-
children.
Funeral services will be Monday morning.

Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate and
burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Neidle Yindra. He married Alice Schmeider Nov. 26, 1932, at Milwaukee.
Survivors include his wife, four daughters, (private); two sons, (private); a sister,
Miss Ann J. Yindra of Green Bay and six grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters
preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A wake service will be
held at 7:30 p.m. by friends, Knights of Columbus Council No. 710, and Daughters of
Isabella Mystic Rose Circle.

1. His Father, Frank Yindra was NOT a lawyer. Frank was a Certified Public Accountant. The first CPA in Manitowoc County.
2. You started off stating that Francis’s mother was Mary Neidle but then changed the name and link to Meidel – that is incorrect.
