William J. Lewis was the first son and second of five children born to William and Margaret Lewis. He came to this country with his parents when he was just eight weeks old and was among the early settlers of Girard, Ohio. He married Jennie Crowley on May 14, 1873 in Trumbull County, Ohio and had five children.
