JOHN FOLKERS
The death of John Folkers occurred at his home east of the city Wednesday morning, at 1:30 o’clock. He had been seriously ill with influenza since the Saturday before. He was born at the present farm home Jan. 16, 1892. He leaves a mother, three sisters, and three brothers, the father and two brothers having died several years ago. The eldest daughter is Mrs. Martin Kitchen [sic] of Farnam, the next eldest is Mrs. Hubert R. Snider of Grand Island; the rest are at home. Funeral services were held at the home at one o’clock Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. Fleishmann. Burial was made at the German Lutheran cemetery.

After four days illness with influenza John Folkers died early Wednesday morning Oct. 30, 1918, at the home of his mother, Mrs. E. Folkers, east of the city; aged 26 years, 9 months and 14 days.
He leaves his mother three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Martin Titchen of Farnam; Mrs. Hubert R. Snider of Grand Island; and Miss Lena Folkers; Fred, Heye and Harm Folkers who reside at home. The death of his father occurred nine years ago and two brothers died in infancy.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the home conducted by Rev. Conrad Krekler and burial was made in the Christ Evangelical Lutheran church cemetery.
