1933 - 2012

Homer Trent, age 79, of Bath Avenue, Owingsville, Ky., passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012, at his residence following a short illness.

He was born March 8, 1933, in Breathitt County, Ky., a son of the late Stockley and Alice Watkins Trent.

Homer served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired employee of First National Bank in Carlisle, Kentucky. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching U.K. basketball. Homer was a member of East Fork Church of God.

Mr. Trent is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susie McCarty Trent, whom he wed September 24, 1960; one daughter, Jennifer Buckler of Owingsville, Ky., two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Kimberly Ann Trent of Wolfe County, Ky., and Bobby and Brenda Trent of Bath County, Ky., six grandchildren, Daisey Jean Trent, Carla Lynn McClure, Sabrina Simmons, Crystal Browning, Bobby Scott Trent, Misty Otis, and eight greatgrandchildren, one brother, Lester Trent of Mt. Sterling, Ky., one sister, Fern Dunn of Jeffersonville, Ky., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Harmon and Rev. Anthony Anderson officiating. Military honors will be presented at the funeral home by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Burial will follow at the Longview Cemetery in Bethel, Kentucky.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.

Pallbearers will be: Earl Conyers, Dennis Thomas, Aitkin Buckler, Sonny Rawlings, Ward Wells, Roger Coyle, Kenny Lyons, and Scotty Fryman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Gary Buckler, Chip Buckler, Bo Manley, Randy Reed, Gary Boyd, Robbie Coyle, Brandon Coyle, and Jason Wells.
