Charles Burden was originally from Upavon Wiltshire. between 1854 and 1858 he lived with his wife Maria and children in Nursling, near Southampton. In 1861 They lived at South Lynch Cottage, Hursley, Hampshire. In 1871 the widowed Charles was lodging with June Richards, also widowed at Rammally, Ampfield, Hiltingbury Farm. He was an agricultural labourer. Charles died on 28 May 1878 in Winchester Hospital of Tuberculosis and exhaustion. He was buried in Hursley on 2 June 1878. Burial No-1462.
